Adam Tan is a marimbist, educator and composer from Perth, Western Australia, he holds a Master of Music (Research, Percussion) and Bachelor of Music (1st Class Hons) from the University of Western Australia Conservatorium of Music.
Moreover, he is the co-director of UWAâs West Australian Youth Percussion Group (WAYPG) and also the founder and director of Marimbafest Australia, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of percussive arts in Australia that curates the annual marimba festival and competition Marimbafest.
Most known for being a YouTube content creator on THE STUDIO, Adam hosts and produces a YouTube show uploading weekly episodes about various topics of percussion, such as gear, technique, and tutorials. With over 2 million views worldwide, THE STUDIO continues to reach thousands of percussionists globally.
As a composer, Adam's works for percussion appear in repertoire lists in schools, competitions, and festivals worldwide, including the UIL Texas Prescribed Music List (PML). Adam's music is both released independently as electronic sheet music and is also published and distributed internationally by Edition Svitzer in Denmark. Adamâs newly released album Hope showcase recordings of all of his music.
In addition, Adam has performed and presented internationally in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan and the United States. Highlights include performances at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), inc. percussion days in Sagamiko, PAS Hong Kong Days of Percussion, Oh! Asian Percussionists Series in Hong Kong, Malaysia Percussion Festival, Chosen Vale Percussion Seminar (USA), and masterclass presentations at various schools and universities in Taiwan and MalletLab Summer Intensive (USA).

1. Some of the great music institutions in Australia are Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Southbank, Elder Conservatorium of Music, and Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (Hugh Jackman studied here!).
2. Australian take Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and Trinity as music tests.
3. Since percussion music was only introduced to AMEB a few years ago, it is not common for percussionists to take the music test.
